When filing married/jointly, how do I add a 1099-G for both my spouse and I from the same state? Am I supposed to total the amounts under one entry?

I tried adding another line but am getting an error message stating "I have already entered that state or locality".

You can enter as one total as Critter#2 suggests above.

The program will not allow you to enter the same state or locality twice ... a limitation of the program.

Thank you for verifying that. It gets confusing when trying combine amounts from two separate tax returns to see if the entire refund is taxable.

It is all taxable IF  you itemized the year before  AND  you used the state income tax option on line 5 of the Sch A  AND the total of the itemized deductions were more than the standard deduction for your filing status by the amount of the line 5 amount.    ....  If all those are true you can skip the worksheet screens in the program and just click the option that it is all taxable.
