Wow! So I just got "talked" into trying the online version of TurboTax 2025 when I downloaded my regular desktop version of the software, but when I tried to start the process of doing my taxes with this version by uploading/importing my prior years return, it told me that the file either wasn't a TurboTax tax return, or it was corrupt!!!???
After doing some googling, I discovered the online TT version can't import password protected returns (i.e. it can't, for some reason, just ask me for the password and get on with the import)!? I apparently have to open my old tax return with the old software and re-save it without a password!
Bzzzzzzzzt! Sorry. Failed at the first hurdle. I'm not screwing around re-installing my old software to do that!!! Nice try Intuit, but I'll just stick with my tried-and-true desktop version again this year. Apart from the inconvenience of having to do this, something just doesn't seem right about specifically *unprotecting* something as sensitive as a tax return file prior to uploading it to the Internet for who-knows-who to potentially lay their eyes on!!
