You can try searching for a .tax file in Finder. If it happened to save, it would be a .tax file that you would be looking for. You can also select File>>Open Recent which may allow you to get back to the file you were working on if it was saved at all.
If it was never saved, and you are unable to find the .tax file, then it is gone. In the desktop versions saving every so often is a good idea just like with a offline word doc.
When TT crashed I had just hit save, it PinWheeled then crashed. I will search again but I have already tried that. I've gone in to settings to check auto save interval but could not find that either in TT. For a product that has been out there for a zillion years this should be a no brainer
Thank You
I just had the same problem as I had just completed my taxes to send them out. It just hung in a pinwheel indefinitely, i had to force quit after waiting 5-6 minutes, and everything was gone. Can someone please check the calendar and let me know what year this is? Normally it would create the tax file right at the beginning and just autosave as you progressed. Now I'm going to have to be up all night redoing everything. I'm running a nice and recent Macbook Pro and I have never once had a single program on my laptop freeze like this. Even trying to login to the website is an absolute joke. I have to open one tab, try to login with my email address which is correct), never receive any email, then open a new tab and login using the username instead. This product absolutely reeks of shortcuts, lack of testing of the user interface/user experience, or a sensible workflow where a tax file would be created at the beginning of the user session and autosaved. Then when these freezing events take place which are triggered by absolutely nothing - the user would not lose their entire records for both their personal and business taxes. I can't believe this is really a problem given the current technology available for both programming and automation testing. I absolutely would like a refund on this shoddy product as you have just wasted many hours of me time. Time is money. Now I have to take a few deep breaths and start all over at the beginning again. Obviously more competitors are needed in the tax software space for a bit of competition which will drive up the quality of the software package. Right now it's a race between would i rather smash my right hand or my left foot with an iron? While both may be mildly hilarious, neither is accomplishing the goal at hand. Please try harder for a future release.
