The 6 digit Identity Protection PIN is issued only to an individual by the IRS.  If you have an IP PIN for yourself and another IP PIN for your husband, then enter both.

To enter a 6 digit IP PIN

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Other Tax Situations
  • Scroll down to Other Return Info
  • On Identity Protection PIN, click the start button

Or enter ip pin in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen.  Click on Jump to ip pin

Go to this IRS website for filing your joint tax return with an IP PIN - <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" href="https://www.irs.gov/individuals/understanding-your-cp01a-notice">https://www.irs.gov/individuals/und...>

"If you are filing a joint return using Form 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, or 1040 PR/SS
Electronic returns
Every taxpayer who receives an IP PIN must enter it on the return; this includes the primary taxpayer, spouse, and dependent.
If only one taxpayer receives an IP PIN, enter it with that taxpayer’s Social Security number (SSN).
If both taxpayers receive an IP PIN, both taxpayers must enter the IP PIN with their SSNs.
If your dependent received an IP PIN before the filing season, you must include his or her IP PIN on your federal tax return."
