@tax_filer @LadyGourmet Just following up - I know we all finally got accepted, but any issues/feedback with the workaround in processing your return as yet?
@MonaGayle1 No real news yet for federal, but my state return was processed and my refund came in today.
I am in the same boat. My husband passed away this year so my income was cut to a third of what we were earning last year. I am still waiting for stimulus# 2, much less number 3. Turbo tax says I should be receiving them, but what happens if I don't e-file? Also, I have already been charged for my state e-ile. Will Turbo Tax refund my e-file costs for my state return if I can't e-file?
@ballroom-dancer I'm sorry for your loss and the difficult tax position you are in now.
Take all of my information with a grain of salt as I'm not a tax professional, but here goes:
If you qualified for the second stimulus check, that should have already arrived. You can check the status on the IRS website if you make an account (https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment). If you mean you should qualify for it now because your income was within the eligibility limits for 2020 but not 2019, I don't think you will get a direct check and instead you would see the stimulus amount included as part of your tax refund for 2020 as part of the 2020 Recovery Rebate Credit (more info on the IRS site https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/recovery-rebate-credit).
For the third check though, if you can get your 2020 federal taxes processed by 90 days after the current May 17th deadline (August 15, 2021) you will have your third stimulus eligibility recalculated at that time and you will receive the check by mail or direct deposit. If you are curious, this section of the bill refers to the "additional payment eligibility date." At this point, it's far enough away that you can continue to try to e-file for a bit. If e-filing just isn't going to work for you this year, know that paper tax form processing can take upwards of 2 months for the IRS. If you file on paper and submit it on the tax deadline, you should have enough time for them to be processed by the additional payment eligibility date assuming no delays, but personally I'd file early just to be sure. Either way, if you cannot get your taxes processed by that date, you will get the stimulus amount back as part of your 2021 Recovery Rebate credit through your 2021 tax refund. So essentially, you'll get the money eventually, it's a matter of when.
As for the TurboTax refund, you can certainly try, however I'm not sure you will have much success. I called and spoke with their customer service folks before I did manage to successfully e-file with the strategy mentioned in the other thread referenced a few replies back and the person I spoke to said TurboTax won't generally grant a refund because your taxes are still technically prepared and you could mail them in. The customer service person straight up told me they would refund me if they could, but they didn't have the ability to do so and suggested I chargeback the TurboTax costs with my credit card instead. That said, I didn't clarify about the state e-file costs, so they may be able to return that for all I know. Good luck!
I received a 1099 Misc Other Income for 25.19 from UAW Legal Services Benefits. I was informed from the UAW that there should be NO Schedule C required. After entering the 1099 Misc, however, I soon realized it had formed a Schedule C for a business and I couldn't get it off. We don't have a business & never have. How do I delete schedule C? I accidentally clicked on a question saying we owned a business and now I can't remove it!
I've gone through all the questions concerning the 1099 Misc, denying any business. How do I delete Schedule C?
Try deleting the form Schedule C. if online, go to tax tools>tools>delete a form> delete all Schedule C forms and worksheets. If the forms remain, you may need to delete the 1099 MISC and then reenter.
