I'm sorry, but I have one more question about FORM W-7, Application for IRS Individual Taxpayer Identification Number. Does the documentation provided in this case have to be original? Or can it be a copy? If it has to be original, then I hope it won't get lost in the mail ... Thank you so much once again!

The instructions for Form W-7 say that you can submit copies of the original documents if the copies are certified by the issuing agency.
The instructions say that the IRS will accept documents issued within 12 months of the application if no expiration date is normally available. Documents must also show your name and photograph and support your claim of foreign status. If you will need your original documents for any purpose within 60 days of submitting your ITIN application, you may wish to apply in person at an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center or CAA. You may also choose to submit certified copies from the issuing agency instead.
