If you are referring to the 6-digit email verification code that some people need when efiling, that cannot come by text to a phone.  It is not a phone verification code; it is an email address verification code.

 

Are you not receiving the code in your email at all?  In that case, check your email's spam/junk folder to see if it might have ended up there.   You can also change the email address if desired (using the steps below.)   You can go to your settings in your Intuit account and change or perhaps even verify your email address there if it's not verified.

  • In the left menu column scroll way down to Intuit Account.
  • Then once in the account settings choose tab Sign In & Security.
  • See if your email address has a tiny link beside it that says "not verified".  If so, click that to verify.
  • Perhaps once you verify it there in the account settings, it won't ask you to verify it again when you are efiling.
  • Or you can change the notifications email address to a different one, if desired.  If you do change it, try to verify it there while in the account settings.

You should first verify your phone number, and select the text option when trying to get the verification code. You can verify the phone number in 

  1. On the left sidebar
  2. Select Intuit account
    1. There will be six boxes
    2. Choose Sign in & Security
    3. Confirm your information.
  3. Once requested, you may have to wait a few minutes
  4. Be sure you use the most recent code because previous ones are canceled. 

If you still cannot receive a code, you may need to

 Verify your identity another way through account recovery
