My 3 TD Ameritrade accounts were transferred to Schwab. TurboTax will not import the TD Ameritrade 1099 information (1099 int, 1099 Div) or the brokerage information from Schwab into TurboTax. TD Ameritrade has closed the accounts and tells me to contact Shwab for the information. I can see it in my Schwab account, but can't import it. What do I need to do to get this information into TurboTax?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You will have to print out the 1099 forms from your broker and enter them into TurboTax. You may have a Form 1099-Int reporting interest income, a 1099-Div reporting dividends and capital gain distributions and/or a form 1099-B reporting the sale of investments.
You enter all of them in the federal section of TurboTax, in the Wages and Income area. The Form 1099-Int and 1099-Div are entered under Interest and Dividends, the Form 1099-B is entered in the Investment Income section where you will choose Stocks, cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other. In each of those sections you will see an entry screen that will display the box numbers on your 1099 forms. You just enter the amounts from your forms into the corresponding box number in TurboTax and also answer the questions presented to you.
