There is no age limit to filing tax returns---who told you that?   If you have taxable income you might have to file even if you are 100.

Who has to file?

xmasbaby0 is correct.

There are filing requirements no matter your age. Depending on your income and other filing requirements, you may not have to file a tax return. Please read the following TurboTax article: Does Everyone Need to File an Income Tax Return?

So what you're saying is that even though a person that over the age of 65 and has no other proof of income aside from social security can and may file taxes?

It all depends on your situation, but being over age 65 doesn't exempt anyone from filing taxes.

@asianguy2136 You left out the part about not having any income besides Social Security when you asked your question.   If Social Security was your ONLY income in 2021 then you do not have to file.   If you have any other income from pensions, retirement accounts, rental property, investments, part-time job, etc., your age does not excuse you from filing.

If Social Security was your only  income you only have to file if you received a 1095A for marketplace insurance or if you still need to seek the 3rd EIP payment.
