tax credit for windows

In filling out the federal tax form 5695, turbo tax states ...

"Exterior windows

Enter the cost of exterior windows which meet or exceed the version 6.0 Energy Star program requirements.

The credit is 30% of the total costs up to a maximum of $600."

I would like to confirm turbo tax 6.0 Energy Star is correct, since there is an 7.0 Energy Star Most Efficient program.

No, this is not the correct Energy Star Program version to use. The current version ,7.0 Energy Star  Most Efficient Program should be used.

We have reported this typo in the Learn More section of the program.

How can I tell if my Energy Star Windows are 7.0 compliant?

You can look at the Energy Star label next to the NFRC label on the window glass. Make sure to check the U-factor and the SHGC for your climate zone. You should then compare this data to the new 7.0 rating criteria found here

This information should also be on the product literature (specification sheets or catalogs). Lastly, it should state whether they are compliant on the manufacturer's website.
