My wife filed her taxes as MFS this year. I registered for the Stimulus Registration via Turbo Tax's Portal....and since the portal does not allow you to submit as MFS, at the advice of many tax professionals on here....i filed my stimulus registration as SINGLE. (weird, i know...but thats what every tax pro on here is saying to do). At any rate....as I suspected, my Stimulus Registration was DENIED by the IRS since my filing status under my SSN was marked as SINGLE when it appears as my wife's spouse on her return as MFS.....didnt match up, DENIED. So, since you cannot apparently register for the Stimulus as MFS.....my question is:
Since it was denied by the IRS upon submission......do I just forget I ever tried that, and go and submit a normal tax return even though I make $0? Or do I have to file an "amended return" based off the failed Stimulus Registration Submission?

If your registration is rejected, nothing went to the IRS.
Wait until the IRS has their portal up and running.
The IRS portal is up and running as of Friday. And it also does not allow a person to register as Married Filing Separately.
I don't know what to tell you then. The IRS website doesn't address this issue and it is an issue you will need to resolve with the IRS.
