In filling out my 2024 taxes, I notice there is not a field to enter state withholdings on social security. The only work around I see is to enter the amounts in other withholdings not recorded elsewhere. If I do this I cannot file my state return electronically.
Not sure why this field is not in TTX, but it needs to be added in order to continue to use TTX to file electronically.
Thank you.

You are correct that there is nowhere to report state tax withheld on the 1099-SSA
On the SSA-1099 there is no where to indicate that state taxes have been withheld. There is box 6 which will show voluntary federal taxes withheld.
What state are you in that taxes the Social Security benefits? How are you notified of the total state taxes withheld for the year on the SS benefits?
DoninGA and JohnB5677,
Thanks for your responses.
The state withholding is voluntary withholding I opted for to cover other income since I am no longer getting a W-2.

Still....exactly where in your SSA-1099 does it show you the state withholding $$ amount?
as suggested earlier, if this occurred, then the only place you can record it would be in the "Other Income Taxes" section,....down at the "Withholding not already entered on a W-2 or 1099" menu item.
