Hi mad9,
I hope you are having a great day! I understand you have filed for social security income. The amount of the social security benefits that is taxable will depend on your other income. Also, if you want federal taxes withheld from the social security income you will need to request that with the Social Security office.

I hope you find this information helpful!
I am so sorry to hear that you have had a stroke recently. I hope you start to feeling a bit more like yourself soon!
As for taxes and Social Security. They will take taxes out if you tell them to. They do not withhold state taxes but will withhold for Federal if you fill in a form W-4V.
Federal will tax Social Security based on the other income on your return.
"You will pay federal income taxes on your benefits if your combined income (50% of your benefit amount plus any other earned income) exceeds $25,000/year filing individually or $32,000/year filing jointly. You can pay the IRS directly or have taxes withheld from your payment." taken from Taken From SSA.GOV
I hope this gives you what you need to move forward with having taxes withheld from your Social Security Income.
