A purchase of 500 shares of ETF SIVR was made in October 2021 and have not sold any. Suddenly this year my broker sends me a 1099-B with the proceeds but not the cost basis. I have read all of I could find but the examples are always simple same year purchases, therefore, I am not sure how to navigate this. Do I go back and use the cost basis calculator using the purchase date to come up with the cost basis for each month from February 2024? When I plug in my numbers in the calculator in the end they do not match the 2024 Tax Guide for Widely Held Fixed Investment Trusts report https://materials.proxyvote.com/RYLTST24 .
I purchased 200 shares ETF GLD in November 2018 and have same questions and have not sold any.
An hour ago I got in touch with my broker but there is not really anyone there to help today with this tax issue. They did have me look at the end of my 1099 report where it does have a cost factor for each sale but I am not sure how to use that number to get to cost basis. I am grateful for any help.
