I e-filed my returns on 4/14/2025. Initially they were rejected because of a mismatch on the forms. I corrected this and re-filed. Federal was accepted within a couple hours. State is still pending. Should I mail in the state so it is postmarked today and not considered late? Is there any potential problem with this if the e-file is subsequently accepted? I would include a note saying it was previously e-filed but still pending.

Sometimes states take a bit longer to accept, I would wait until later in the day. If you hit the transmit button prior to midnight tonight, you have met the deadline. The taxing authorities know it takes some time to be accepted and your return is timestamped when it is transmitted.
I wouldn't bother about mailing an e-filed return just because it is in pending status. I assume you have already paid any due taxes, which is what matters the most. If you are getting a refund, there is no worry anyways about the filing deadline. Many people don't know that if you are getting a refund there is even no need to file for extension.
