I'm trying to get thru the e-file process for my 90 year old mom's taxes. When I enter the user selectable PIN number and proceed, the program comes back with red text akin to "either the PIN or your birthday is incorrect". I know the BD is correct so I selected a different PIN and it still fails. It's an endless loop and it won't let me proceed. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Check with the Soc Sec Admin, which is where the IRS gets her birthdate. They might have a different DOB in their records.
Last years taxes with the same birthday worked with no issues. There's something else wrong.
Additional info: so my dad died in early Feb this year so Turbo Tax auto fills his bottom-of-1040 signature line with "filing as surviving spouse". During the e-file process, his name does not appear in the fields for requesting a PIN number or for auto fill BD field which certainly makes sense. I've read elsewhere that it's a good idea to mail your taxes and write in 'deceased xx/xx/xxxx date" next to the name at the top of the 1040 instead of e-file. I wouldn't think this would be the cause of the e-file sequence problem but is it possible? Ultimately I may end up printing the forms and mailing as much as I hate to do so....
