I've separated for a year now and we have 3 kids. I want to claim one of them. I'm still (supporting them) by paying the mortgage, light bill, and internet bill. Mom pays the other bills. Does that qualify me to claim on of them even though I haven't lived with them?

The IRS cares about physical custody. The parent with whom the child lived for the most nights---at least 183 nights-- is the one who can claim the child as a dependent on a tax return. If there is a signed agreement---on Form 8332-- then the non-custodial parent can get the child tax credit. Do you have such an agreement?
Well, I'm going to ask her see if she approves it. Probably not, but the only I can do is ask.
Thanks,
