Schedule D is incorrectly importing total from 8949

I entered all my transactions and Form 8949 is correct, but TT brings the same number to both lines 1a and 1b of Schedule D. They should show up on one or the other and not both lines. This doubles the total gains or losses when same reported on both lines.  When I try to override Schedule D line 1a to zero out, TT will not allow it.

It sounds like you may have a duplicate Form 1099-B entry in your program. I suggest you see if you can delete the duplicate entry as follows:

1. Choose the Tax Tools option on your left menu bar while working on your return

2. Choose Tools

3. Choose the Delete a form option under Other Helpful links

4. Find the duplicate Form 1099-B entry in the list and delete it
