I am using the web version so there is nothing to update. Tried filing again this am, but received the same error.
I opened a case with TT and they provided me with this update URL :
Thanks for the update.
but geez, March 3 is ridiculous. How hard can it be to fix this form?
Thank you for sharing this information. Our team is working to resolve an error message in the New Jersey state tax form NJ-DOP during the Review. Please sign up for notifications in this TurboTax Help article Notifications NJ-DOP message in Review
If the federal forms are all finalized and it is ready to e-file, you can choose to file just the federal return at this time, then come back when your state forms are ready and e-file that return.
Note, if you don't e-file them together, you do have to wait until the federal is accepted before you can e-file the state. Sometimes this takes a day or even two.
Here is a TurboTax Help article with directions for when you return to file your state return.
File State after the Federal is Filed
Alright guys,
This worked for me and was able to e-file!
Go back and edit/review your NJ return -->
Edit/review 'Adjustments Section' -->
You'll come to page with the question "Any sales of property not subject to New Jersey tax?' -->
At this point click YES -->
Then you should see a list/spreadsheet of sales with checkboxes next to each line -->
Click on each box (clicking on box means you are omitting it from the adjustments -->
Make sure to click every box (not the empty line on the bottom though) -->
Proceed on after that section to Done with State and then you should be good.
Your welcome and good luck!
This worked for me UNTIL the very end. Now the "captcha is failing to load" and I can't click the final button. I swear I'm going to throw my laptop! Rebooted, cleared history/cache, accept all cookies. Same result
Same here it is still getting "an error saying it needs to be updated...even after i updated my software.
This DID WORK for me. I had to click about thousand times to check box but error message is gone. but this is not accurate because stocks and crypto are taxable in NJ. So I was wrong in my previous post about this error. This error is still there.
Well this definitely worked but aren't gains and losses from stock and crypto subject to NJ Tax? If I omit them all isn't that lying?
Thats true
However, omitting them all didn't change the amount of tax I owe to NJ so idk what's the deal here
You’re omitting then from NOT being subject to tax.
regardless I’m not doing this.
This is a known issue we are working to resolve. Please see the below TurboTax help article for additional information regarding this error and a link to sign up for updates.
Working to resolve it by March 3rd so that NJ residents can't file by 2/28 and TurboTax jacks the Premier price for Federal from $69 to $89 and the State from $39 to $49. SMH!
I think that happens if you don't have any capital gain. If you have loss then Line 4 is Zero.
