Hello! I want to completely eliminate credit card debt by December 2023. Am I able to remove money from my Roth IRA without penalty/taxes for this purpose (to pay off debt)? Thank you!

Hi Jodi,
That is a good question.
You can take a Roth IRA distribution on your contributions at any time without penalty or taxes. If you wish to withdraw your Roth IRA earnings, however, there are certain circumstances where there are no taxes or penalties: You must be age 59.5 or older, and. Your Roth IRA account must be active for five years or more.
You can read this article for more details on withdrawal rules and penalties.
Hope this answers your question. Feel free to reply if you have any additional questions.
