  5. Enter the RMD amount for this account on the "Let's get more information about your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD)" screen
  6. On the "Review your 1099-R info" screen click "Continue"

Thank you.  I only wish I would have gotten an email advising that the software issue was fixed.  I had to search again on my own.

You need to go back through the 1099R entries and revisit all the answers. There was an update on Feb 20, 2025 that fixed the RMD problems.  So if you have the Desktop program be sure to update it.   The questions have changed so your prior answers won’t be right especially if you answered them with a work around to make them come out right. I would delete the 1099Rs and enter them again manually. That usually fixes it and resets the questions. Deleting has been fixing it for others.

I'm reviewing my 2024 tax return and Turbo Tax keeps asking me about RMD excess accumulation errors.  This is new to me.  I don't know what they want.  Can someone help me?

If you’re age 72 or more, TurboTax will ask several questions when you’re entering your 1099-R information. Revisit that section to make sure you answered all questions regarding your Required Minimum Distribution RMD.

You can find the RMD amount on your 2024 Form 5498. This form is typically sent out by your retirement plan administrator or financial institution.

I think Turbo Tax is asking me about my military spouse pension (former spouse).  There is no RMD with this military pension.
