I did everything you have suggested, but my e-filing still would not go through. any other ideas?
thanks very much in advance
Hi, So I did get the 6-digit IP PIN from the IRS, but the e-filing was rejected again. I tried to enter "0" in AGI, it was rejected! I enter the actual correct AGI, it was rejected too. So is there any other way I can e-file? Or I have to send >100 pages of paper by mail? if so, my next year's filing would be a nightmare too, right? please help. thanks.

Thank you. I think the problem is that the IRS has NOT processed my return for 2021, thus, they don't have my AGI. when I tried to enter it as "0", it did not work. what do I do now? Should I try to get the 6 digit IP PIN from IRS? thanks.
For the tax year 2022 return there is no more you need to do since the IRS has your tax return. You only wait for the IRS to finish processing the return. Check the IRS website for the status of the refund at least once a week.
Did you have a tax refund for the 2021 tax return? If so, then you need to contact the IRS for the status.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 3 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
Or you can contact your local IRS office. See this IRS website for local IRS offices - http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-Your-Local-IRS-Office-1 or call 1-844-545-5640 to set up an appointment
Or you may want to contact a Taxpayer Advocate in your area. See this IRS website for Taxpayer Advocate in your area and a toll free number - http://www.irs.gov/Advocate/Local-Taxpayer-Advocate
Hi, thank you so much for the tips of calling IRS. I will definitely give it a try. But for now, should I just file paper return for 2022? no other choice? thank you again.

If the IRS website for the status of your 2022 tax refund indicates that the IRS has received the 2022 tax return, there is absolutely no need to file a 2022 paper tax return with the IRS. Doing so would likely delay the processing of your 2022 tax refund for several weeks if not several months.
thank you so much for your help, and I was able to get on the phone with an IRS agent without much waiting. However, they told me that if entering "0" as AGI doesn't work, even though IRS has received my 2021 return, I have no choice but to mail paper tax now.
I try to e-file it again with the right AGI . last year (2021) I mailed the Tax Return. I didn't have pin #, I created new pin #only for 2022 filling. I don't understand way the IRS reject my 2022 E-filling. also it is difficult to get your help in this case. so please let me know what to do ?
Great info here. Today I resubmitted and had accepted our 2022 efile with a $0 AGI, but included our own preferred pins. Like others, I had received rejections having submitted previously with the correct AGI, confirmed through IRS transcripts, but $0 worked. Thanks all.
