Retired But Donate Time

I am a retired physician but donate my professional services at a free clinic. If I have to have a state license and go to courses to keep up my education for the license, can I still have business deductions on my taxes ?

Retired But Donate Time

As a retired physician, you wouldn't be able to deduct these as business expenses, but if you have no income from practicing medicine, and are solely volunteering for a qualified charitable organization, you may deduct these expenses as a charitable contribution.

You cannot deduct your time as a charitable expense, but you might be able to deduct any out of pocket expenses or mileage.
