Reporting continued enrollment in HDHP from "Family" to "Single"

When going through the program, the question asks, "Did you have a Family HDHP on December 1st of 2023"?  I answered yes.  That just happens to be the very date my wife passed away.  Therefore, as of January 1st,2024, I converted to "single only" coverage continuing my HDHP.

The next question in the program states, "It looks like you had a break in your HDHP coverage".  I NEVER HAD ANY BREAK IN COVERAGE.  Why is the program assuming I had some break in coverage ??????

You can probably ignore this message. Because your wife is not on your 2024 return, you never went through the HSA interview in 2024 to tell TurboTax that your wife had HDHP coverage. So TurboTax got confused and thought that maybe her coverage "lapsed".

Just answer NONE to this question because it does not apply to you.

And please accept our condolences on your loss.
