The reject message gives the reason and reject code - what did it say?

Look at the reject message contained in the notification.  It should tell you the reason for the rejection.  If you no longer have the e-mail, you can always check the e-file status of your return by clicking here:  Check your e-file status

If you don't see a reason for the rejection, go ahead and transmit the return again.  If you get the same rejection a second time and you see no mistakes on your return, select the file by mail option to paper-file your return. Sometimes, returns keep getting rejected even though there's nothing wrong with them (data mismatches, dependents already claimed, and so forth).

In these cases, we recommend paper-filing by mail rather than wasting additional time trying to "fix" something that is beyond your control.

You still did not tell us the exact reject message so reject code so we cannot tell if this is an internal TurboTax check that is failing or the IRS that is rejecting.

The IRS matched the first four letters of the last name and yiur rate of birth against the Social Security Administration records base on the SSN that you enter.  Make sure that is exactly as it is on your SS card.

If it continues to reject with a IRS reject then the SSA data base might have an error and you will have to print and mail this year and then contact the SSA to check their records to get it fixed for next year.  That might require visiting a SSA office with your birth certificate.

Here's how you can fix it:

Sign in to your account and select the Fix my return button. Follow any “fix it” instructions to update the information causing the rejection.

Note: Not all rejections will have explicit guides to fix the information. You’ll need to navigate to the program area to address the cause of the rejection.

Time-saving Tip: If what you originally entered is correct, you won't be able to e-file. There's probably a data mismatch at the government, a dependent that's already been claimed, or some other situation beyond your control that prevents your return from being e-filed. In this case, your only option would be to print and mail in your return. This article will give you instruction on how to print and mail your return.

    Additional reject instruction here.
