Reimbursement of gym membership: taxable?

Details: Retired. Have Medicare Advantage with BCBS-MA. They reimbursed part of gym membership. Is this taxable?

In all of the research and investigation I have done thus far, everything I have found that speaks to this says something about "employer/employee" wellness benefits. I cannot find anything that says how this is treated for a retiree.

The reimbursement of gym membership is taxable and should be reported as Other reportable income.

In TurboTax, open your return and follow these steps:

  • Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Wages and Income on top of the screen
  • Scroll down to All Income, locate the Less Common Income section
  • Click Show more and click Start next to Miscellaneous Income at the bottom
  • On the next page, click Start next to Other Reportable Income.

who paid the gym membership?     if you did, it's not deductible and thus the reimbursement wouldn't be taxable.
