I live in Nevada and my partner has already filed her taxes but I have not filed mine. What steps do I need to take to correctly file since apparently we need to prepare both taxes simultaneously.

There isn't anything in that guide on what to do if your partner has already filed their taxes though, which is what I'm asking about.
According to IRS tax code, registered domestic partners may not file a federal return using a married filing separately or jointly filing status. Registered domestic partners are not married under state law. Therefore, these taxpayers are not married for federal tax purposes.
There is no stipulation about filing simultaneously unless I missed something in the code.
