Regarding future stimulus payments, am I better off waiting to file or file right away? I get more stimulus based off 2019 filing vs. 2020 will they go off most recent?

There was talk at one time of getting stimulus payments for all dependants, If that's the case, I would get more stimulus based off 2019 than I would from 2020.

IRS will refer to the latest info they have for you.

In which case, you may want to delay filing as long as possible.,

For future payments, it will depend on how Congress writes the law.

If you file right away Turbo Tax will just hold your return until the IRS opens on Jan 27, 2021.  So you won't be able to change it or add any new forms you get.  So there's no hurry.  Be patient.

The Stimulus Checks are really based on your 2020 return we are filing in 2021.  So any amount you already got will be reconciled on your 2020 return line 30.  If you didn't get a Stimulus Check (and qualify) or you qualify for more it will be added to your 2020 return.  But the good news is if they paid you too much they won't take it back.

When you go through the federal review tab it will ask how much you got if any.  Or to enter your stimulus payment in TurboTax, type "stimulus" (without the quotes) in the Search box, then click the link that says "Jump to stimulus."
