I followed instructions 1 & 2, then Continue. The next page had no line resembling "Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount", and no reference nor "interview".
My wife and I received a total of $1400; are we eligible for more? If so, given the above apparent defect in TurboTax, how do we claim it?
P Marvin
@pete777 Do you have any dependents? You each should have received 1,400. You didn't get 2,800? Check your bank records. You just need to enter the total you and your wife got. Then if you qualify for more it will be on 1040 line 30. You should also get IRS letter 6475 saying what they sent you. You might each get a letter.
Do you have a high income? If you did not get prompted to enter your stimulus information, that means you either:

I didn't revive my first or second stimulus check and I'm waiting on my third one
If you did not get the first and/or second economic payment, you must file a 2020 Tax Year return or an Amended 2020 return if you already filed an original 2020 return.
File a 2021 Tax Year return to claim the credit for the missed THIRD economic payment.
2021 Recovery Rebate Credit is for the Third Economic Impact Payment only
Are you missing payment of First and/or Second Economic Impact Payment(s)?
First check the IRS "Your online account" to see if the payment was made:
If no payment was made, file a 2020 tax return (or amended 2020 tax return)
Hello,
I need clarification on the Recovery Rebate Credit Worksheet. I filled out the info Turbotax desktop asked for, I believe correctly. I know I received all stimulus that the government was sending over the Covid time the last couple years. I also did receive the monthly payments for both children for the child tax credit. I believe I would have answered questions pertaining to both of those correctly. Turbo gave me the 2800 credit. The IRS took several months to process finally letting me know they had changed my return and that I made an error either for a dependent's name, SS info or a dependent exceeds the age limit. What should I receive for the recovery rebate knowing I have already received all stimulus offered yet?
Chris
@Ctmartin66 If you already got the 3rd stimulus for 2800 then your 1040 tax return line 30 should be 0. I don't know what happened but you must have answered a question wrong if it had 2800 on line 30. Line 30 is only if you didn't get the full amount or qualify for more. Not the amount you already got. You should always review your return closely before you file and ask if you don't understand any amounts or lines.
I completed the Recovery Rebate Credit worksheet on Turbo tax based on the Letter 6475 that my husband and I each received. Turbo Tax calculated that we were due a $700 credit so I took the credit on my 2021 Tax Return. Now I get a letter from the IRS that I owe $700. I've tried to log into Turbo Tax to get a copy of the worksheet but I'm not able to. How did Turbo tax calculate my $700 credit?
The 3rd stimulus was $1400 per each taxpayer. Did you file a Married Filing Jointly return? If you both received the stimulus, it sounds like you should have entered $2800 for the stimulus payment and no recovery rebate would have generated. The Child Tax Credits advance payments were half of the expected credit, but the stimulus checks were sent out for the full amount. To retrieve the worksheets from your return:
If you used the desktop program, click on Forms when you have your return open and you can see all of your forms and worksheets. @pfromtexas
@pfromtexas How many people are on your tax return? Any dependents? How much was each 6475 letter? Did you enter the total for both? There was another post about a 700 difference and I figured that one out. Maybe it's similar to yours. I'll look for it.
Here's that other post I was thinking of. Follow the whole thing. Maybe something applies to yours.
I am following the steps as far as Federal Review. I don't see the option (Let's see if you get the Recovery Credit) as stated in Step 3. How do I get there? Thanks in advance.
