Illinois e-file ineligibility Return has a W-2 SSN that does not match the taxpayer's or spouse's SSN/ITIN on the return

You have to find the issue on the federal form and correct it.  I had to do it in the actual form, not in the Personal Info section.   You have to find your way to the SSN field on the actual form and correct it.  Then delete and redo your state.  That should clear it up.

I was able to get mine filed!

I got an email that federal was able to be sent now, so I went in to submit JUST federal in hopes there would be a solution for state down the road. When I went to actually transmit federal, it popped up with an error with my social and said the error wasn't detected previously. I corrected it on there and submitted federal only. I then went in and tried to file IL and it worked!

My W-2 uploaded xxxx's in front of my social security number, which has caused this issue.

Go to Forms on the upper right area of your screen. Find the file path leading to your W-2 and click to open it. Change the xxxx's to your social security number. It fixed my issue right up. Hope this helps everyone!!

@alyssiastaadt: How did you get to the paper form version to correct this issue? I don't see the Forms area on the upper right area - is this only with a desktop version? I'm using the basic free online version.

So glad to hear that resolved your issue though! Hopeful it can resolve mine as well.

Problem solved. 1. Go to “Forms” icon in your right upper corner. 2. Find your “W-2 Form” inside Form 1040 in “Forms in My Return” scroll window on your left. 3. Check if in your SSN, line “a” you have your full SSN. You may see something like XXXXX1234. Delete it and type your SSN again. Save the changes: File-Save. You should be OK. The problem is most like from the TurboTax Software. Good Luck.

Illinois e-file ineligibility Return has a W-2 SSN that does not match the taxpayer's or spouse's SSN/ITIN on the return

I am receiving this message:  "Return has a W-2 SSN that does not match the taxpayer's or spouse's SSN/ITIN on the return".  I looked on-line for information regarding this error code and it appears that this is an issue with the Turbo Tax software.  From what I have seen, people say you have to fix it on your federal form.  Is this data hidden somewhere because everywhere I looked the information is correct.  Please provide with instructions as to where I can find the area I need to review to make sure my SSN is correct.

If this is a known problem why is this information on-line so you know how to fix it?

Is there a way to see the form before you file your taxes because I did not think you can see that information until you file your taxes and if you are filing your federal and state together how do you go back and delete the state if you already filed them?

Yes you can view the entered information for the W-2 If it is before you have filed.  Here are instructions.

You can  view your W-2s in the Wages & Income section of TurboTaxTurboTax will simply ask you: “Do you have another W-2 to enter?” Click "Edit", and you're on your way to reviewing your W-2.

I'm curious if it has to do with ADP printing xxx-xx-1234 for example instead of the full social on the forms.

Yes. This is 100% a TurboTax problem with the way their software is pulling the SSN data into the form.

I had to go into the W2 Form for each of my W2 and update both mine and my spouse's SSN. The Federal forms had the numbers represented as XXXXX####. Once I updated each W2 with our full SSN, then my State return was no longer being rejected.

Thank you @tp616! This worked. How crazy, seeing all those xxxxx's in my SSN in the W-2 that was imported from ADP.  Everyone please read this post by @tp616. I am seeing some more recent posts that aren't finding the error in the W-2 forms. Good luck everyone!
