Ooops, this can be classified as a Stupid-User issue 🙂
TD Ameritrade Login credentials are not to be used
TD Ameritrade Account Number and Document Number ARE to be used.
It worked 🙂
2018 and 2020 work when one uses the acct # and document #. 2019 does not work.
This was my error too. I had to see the tax documents within TD Ameritrade to know my Account number and Document number but after I corrected those login details, it imported fine!
Is this 20149 or 2020 TurboTax. In 2019 the import function did not work for any broker. mine were TD Ameritrade and TradeStation.
For assistance with importing your 1099-B, please see the below TurboTax FAQ:
I am getting a error 103 when I try to import mine using my account number and document code
You may want to reach out to Ameritrade directly for assistance with disabling and re-enabling the two factor authenticator.
Also you can try clearing your cache.
Was this ever fixed? I get an error message stating it's an internal server issue, whatever that means.
Does NOT work for my 2020 tax return. The button to "Connect My Account" is greyed out.
My document ID from Ameritrade has all digits in at.. Please help I have a giant list of trades 1099-B trades which I cannot possibly enter by hand.
I have tried all afternoon to get this download to work. I get an error message indicating my document number is incorrect. I have confirmed it with TD Ameritrade and it is correct.
very frustrating as I have done this for years with no issues.
Follow up question - I have this same problem now with importing my TD Ameritrade 1099s. I click the link to get email update when you have resolved this issue, and the link fails.
I click the link and sign in to TurboTax, and then get an error (red box) message that says "You don't have sufficient privileges for this action" or something like that.
Now what?
I tried again, and same result. Cut-and-paste of the error message in the red box:
You do not have sufficient privileges for this resource or its parent to perform this action.

Good luck, this has only worked twice.(my badge says “new member” but this is my eighth year using TurboTax). Seems they have bugs they just don’t want to fix. I hear H&R Block has simple process of transferring from TT to them.
But, you’ll have to get the forms from Ameritrade and manually enter them. Ameritrade forms aren’t usually available until last minute either, February 15th is the last day they have to release them.
Please see this Help Article for information regarding when you will be able to import 1099’s.
