You do NOT need to enter the 1099-NEC in the Sch C section ... just skip it and enter the income in the next section ...
How do u use your wage transcript to file past taxes?
So you would be able to use an irs tax transcript when filling and not have to file a form 4582 (w2 substitute) ?
Here is the skinny ... you can use the transript to PAPER file the return but it cannot be efiled since the transcript doesn't have the employer's EIN on it and it has no STATE info on it for the state return. Attach a copy of the transcript to the return when you mail it in.
To get a copy of a W-2 from Social Security that will have the state info on it & the employer's EIN.... https://faq.ssa.gov/en-us/Topic/article/KA-02501
Hello,
How do you match up the numbers on the transcript, it not like a W2 with all the boxes, there are no boxes on the IRS wage and income transcript.
Your taxable wages would go in box 1. Box 2 would be the federal tax withheld from your wages. Box 3 would be your social security wages, which would often be the same as the wages in box 1. Box 4 would be the social security tax on the box 3 amount (typically 6.20%). Box 5 would be the Medicare wages, usually the same as the social security wages in box 3. Box 6 would be the Medicare tax (normally 1.45% of box 5).
Box twelve could have a myriad of items in it. You can look at the Form W-2 instructions to see if anything on your transcript needs to be entered in box 12.
Boxes 15 to 20 are for your state wages and taxes withheld.
