Well Intuit is clearly wrong!
Microsoft is offering free updates for security and bug issues - I signed up and have received several updates.
This is the heading of a Windows 11 article in a PC Magazine email (2/2/2026):
""We Need to Improve.' Microsoft Admits Windows 11 Has Too Many Annoying Bugs""
This is one of the reasons why so many people and corporations don't want to upgrade Windows. Intuit seems to be ignoring the facts about Windows 10 vs. Windows 11.
Intuit is suggesting On Line versions of Turbotax for Windows 10 users. The reviews on Amazon for Turbotax Delux 2025 are not good.
Intuit says they are not supporting running TurboTax 2025 running on Windows 10 because it will not be secure, but they do support running the Canadian version of TurboTax 2025 on Windows 10. So, I guess if I'm Canadian security doesn't matter to Intuit.
2024 version seemed a bit crappy anyways and did not give much decent guidance on a few questions I had. It is time to switch anyways and file a paper return and let the feds use the return to heat the white house in their scrap mail furnace. Other than that I will find another app that works on my older PC with W10. Nerds
Thank you for shharig your sentiment, A lot of us share it. These guys are not reading the room (which is much bigger than this thread). I don't know anyone comfortable sharing this type of information to cloud. A lot of people don't. Since last year, I've been looking for other services for tax software.
I have windows 10 and wish to continue with turbtax and want to know of any options
may I speak with a human regarding this issue
@Bobbybuck1 Sorry----desktop download for 2025 will not run on Windows 10. If you cannot upgrade to Windows 11, you can still use online TurboTax instead.

If / when you get to speak to a human at Intuit, remind them that Microsoft is supporting Windows 10 for most of 2026 and as much as another six years (I continue to get security and bug fix updates - so it's true).
Remind them that Windows 11 adoption worldwide is ~ 50% and actually declining.
And ask them why their 2025 Canadian TTAX product run on Windows 10 - does Canada have immunity to Windows 10 attacks??
I like it when things make sense - and what Intuit has done with TTAX DOESN'T!!

Used hrbl0ck off newegg for $30 and it worked great. TT last year was a bit confusing with poor guidance. All my pc are W10 and W11 is said.to be buggy and would require a new computer for myself. Wanted to switch now they made it an easy choice both cost wise and simply basic logic as W10 does have support still and to staye absolutely otherwise is false.
Extended support was free for all our W10 PC both professional and the home user version. I forget if the offer was time based or for oem installs but if tt feels its more secure to push all your data onto their online servers when they state incorrect IT info I can't trust them. I believe they also lobby against free federal filing for all. The price is higher, the guidance poor ime and always another fee to file.
@user17692003622 Win 10 is down to 22% in North America according to statcounter - it was holding around 1/3 but presumably holiday upgrades are now starting to kick into the numbers.
Canada is a different product and user base, different business/legal decision.
Desktop is less than 1% of Intuit's revenues and in decline, and they're clearly pushing towards Online.
You can either use a Win 11 VM, use Online, or use something else - TaxAct and HRB still support Win 10.
For Online it's not the same functionality (no forms mode) and the fee is good for 1 return only, if you do multiple returns they need separate accounts and fees. Turbotax has an offer this year to switch a desktop licence to Online Premium Fed+State but this is only good for 1 return.
Hr block from newegg was $30 and imported my tt tax file and works great
Windows 10 has extended support from Microsoft. The support does not include any feature updates - it does include security updates. I know this because I signed up for the support and have received multiple updates on a Windows 10 home and 10 Pro PC.
Details are here:

Have not checked the stats but medical equipment will likely stick with W10 for quite a while as fda approval to change stuff takes a while. Also if W10 is down whats the rest using be it mac or linux or even W7 etc. We had clusters using linux and w10 running the desktops and at one point it was 14 linux nodes to one W10 al behind firewalls, so if W10 use is low I'm just wondering what hardware and use.is actually counted. Anyways thanks and take care
