Why is there still a fee applied when I am seeing Turbo Tax advertise "free"

because the advertising is deceiving - it's only free for the simplest of return and lower incomes.

It sounds like your return required forms and schedules not supported by the free version of TurboTax. Please click here to see the pricing tiers and the included tax situations. Also, you can view your fees by clicking on the "Tax Tools" option on the left-hand menu bar, then choose "Tools", then "My Fees".

Somehow you upgraded to the LIVE expert help feature for higher cost.  How to remove Turbo Tax Live.  There are 2 different ways to remove Live depending on how you added it

But in the regular Turbo Tax Free Edition, information that you can enter is limited now.  Why do I have to upgrade from the Free Edition?

You can view your fees by clicking on the "Tax Tools" option on your left menu bar, then choose "Tools", then "My Fees". If you feel your fees are not correct, please click on the "Help with My Fees" option at the bottom of the "My Turbo Tax Fees" screen for suggestions on how to reduce your fees.
