It sounds like this year you aren't entitled to a refund, but are one of a number of taxpayers who instead owe a balance due.
Unfortunately, not everyone who files a tax return receives a refund.
However, it may be worth going back through your tax return to be sure that there isn't some important data entered.
You can start back at the beginning and go through each part, and I suggest paying close attention to things like your withholding on forms W-2 and 1099 as well as all of the questions related to dependents, if you have them.
It can also be helpful to print your return for this year as well as last and compare line by line to see what differs. Sometimes that's the easiest way to spot what changed, or where any errors may be.
Once you have spotted what is different feel free to return to ask additional questions.
Please note it is important to file on time (or file an extension) when you have a balance due, even if you can't pay the balance in full when you file. This stops the more costly failure-to-file penalties.
