To file a State return separate, your Federal return must be accepted. You can file both a Federal & State returns at the same time but not all State forms are available yet to e-file.

My Federal tax has already been accepted and I just paid for e-file for my state. It won't let me file my state.

We cannot see your tax returns in this forum. To check your e-file status for your state, go to: State Return Refund Tracking. If the e-filing for the federal went through, the state usually follows within 24 hours.
You can check the PDF to verify that both were electronically filed, as well. To do this, follow these steps:

Look for the cover pages from TurboTax. If the state was required to be mailed in, there would be instructions including a mailing address. Otherwise, it would be set to e-file.
