The form was indeed finalized on Jan 5th as the "draft" watermark was removed. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-prior/f8915f--2023.pdf
All. Update to my earlier post from a couple days ago. I abandoned turbo tax and re-entered into Tax Slayer. My return is complicated and I didn’t have to pay extra. $20 and 90 minutes later i filed. Form 8915-F was not buried and easily filled out. I just received notification of pending direct deposit from the IRS. $20 and 90 minutes was worth it vs. having my chain yanked by Turbo Tax. Good Luck.
Newest form availability shows the 8915-F ready for e-file March 9, 2023.
Although, it has been pushed out twice previously.
Yes, use forms availability tool to check when that form will be available anytime. Currently, I see a date of 3/9/2023 from that link for Federal Forms, Individual, 8915F. Thank you for your patience. Be sure to update your software once it shows ready in form availability.
To Michael (the expert)....I think we all know by now where to get the expected date. What we're all complaining about is that this date keeps on getting moved back. And this is the 3rd year this is has happened. Turbo Tax is supposed to be better at handling "more complex" tax issues compared to its competitors. I DON'T THINK SO. I have no faith that March 9 will be the date the form will be ready. Ugh.
I am writing to express my frustration with the delayed release of the required forms for tax filing. It has now been two days since I sent my letter requesting that Turbo Tax take immediate action to rectify the matter, and I have received no response or action.
As a customer, I rely on Turbo Tax to provide me with accurate and timely support for tax filing, and the current situation is completely unacceptable. The continued delay is causing significant hardship to many taxpayers, and the stress and anxiety among us are only increasing as each day passes.
I urge Turbo Tax to prioritize this matter and take immediate steps to release the required forms and instructions without further delay. I also request that you provide regular updates on the progress of developing and releasing the required forms so that taxpayers can plan accordingly.
I hope that Turbo Tax will take steps to ensure that such a situation does not arise in the future, as it creates unnecessary difficulties for taxpayers.
I demand a response to this letter and action to be taken immediately to rectify the situation.
Who wants to bet that the form gets pushed back to a 3/16/23 release?
So with that said, how do we know for sure that there is going to be an update to the instructions for 2022? I do not know the answer myself, but if this form is considered to be a "forever form" by the IRS, does that mean they will be updating the instructions, or do they even need updating? Just seems like a bit of a grey area unless we know for sure that updates to the instructions are coming.
Thank you, Captain Obvious. The problem is that this is the 4th week it was supposed to be released on a Thursday and the 4th week it has been pushed back. While all of the "tax experts" keep pointing everyone to this date and making excuses (blaming the IRS, who ratified the form back in January), no one is actually listening to what we are saying.
I am a poor schmuck who bought the **bleep** software on Amazon and will be trying to figure out if it is too late to claim false advertising and go get it done at TaxSlayer. For the #1 rated tax software, this is just beyond disappointing.
Michael the Employee Tax Expert; "currently I see a date of 3-9.......................... man it might as well say a date of 3-eleventynine because the only thing the previous dates have meant is the celebration of the weekly anniversary of you duping us.
When it says that the delay is due to the IRS, I'm guessing by IRS you mean Intuit's Really Slow?
Someone should start a class action lawsuit and/or complain to BBB. We have been unduly prejudiced for years by Turbotax and their inability to get this form out on time. They have engaged in deceptive business practices and they fail to even address the matter. Shameful.
Free, at last! I just called to get a refund today. I paid four weeks ago in advance because the form was supposed to be ready “next week”. After calling into the 1-800 number, telling the chatbot I wanted to speak to the operator, and then being subsequently disconnected 8 times in a row, I finally reached a gentleman who was able to process my $128 refund request!
Yeah I finally filed with HR block online today rather than keep getting strung along. IRS accepted today, but had to pay for pro tax service so a bit more out of pocket
It is now March 5th and Turbo Tax still does not have this form. It is really frustrating to ask a live EXPERT , and they don't even know what I'm talking about. This is the 3rd year for this form, you would think they would know by now.. Is there a reason they don't have the form that was said to be released on Feb 16th?
