Where do you put income made by surveys?

I made over $800 between different survey sites. I was paid by PayPal, direct deposit, and gift cards. Since I did not earn $600 from just one place, I do not have a 1099. Is this considered earned income or other income? Also do I claim the gift cards since they were payment for the work?

Where do you put income made by surveys?

This is all self-employment income reported on Schedule C.

Since you are using TT Online, you must either (1) upgrade to Online Home and Business; or (2) change to any version of TT Desktop (CD/download).

Generally, income earned from doing surveys should be reported under miscellaneous income unless you do this for a living, then it's self-employment income. The company was not required to send you a form 1099-misc if you earned less than $600.

Follow these steps to enter your income. We’ll ask you some questions to determine if your income is from self-employment or is ordinary income.
