Where do I enter items that go to Form 8949, Part II, Box F? Where do I go in TurboTax to do this?

I just need to know where in TurboTax online to enter information that goes to Form 8949, Part 2, Box F? An accountant told me how to write off my unrecovered basis in a business sale. He said it goes on on 8949, Part II, Box F. Please be detailed on how I get there online. Thank you

In TurboTax Premier, sign in and click on Take me to my return.  Once inside your return, click on Federal (left menu) and then choose Wages & Income (top menu).  Scroll down to the Investments section (image attached).  You can also type 1099-b into the search bar, hit enter, and use the Jump to link to get there.

Enter the transaction as follows, it will show up on Form 8949, Part ll, and Box F will be checked.  You will also need 2 dates (purchased and disposed of dates) to properly enter the transaction.  No adjustments will be necessary.

  • Click Start or Revisit next to Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other (see attached)
  • If you already have sales entered, click Add More Sales at the bottom
  • Answer NO to Did you receive a 1099-B
  • Choose Everything Else - last option for Type of sale
  • The description is Worthless Installment Sale
  • Proceeds = amt ,if any, you received and Date of Sale (date in 2018)
  • Select how you acquired the investment
  • Enter the basis and the date you acquired the investment
  • TurboTax will calculate your loss and put in on Form 8949

Could you update the steps listed from the previous 2019 reply on "where to enter items that go to Form 8949, Part II, Box F" for the Turbotax Premier 2024 screens?  I am also trying to get Form 8949 Part II Box F checked off (Long term transaction not reported to you on 1099-B).  The screens have changed in the current software release.  I don't see where it asks if you have a 1099-B.  I have tried selecting all the different drop down options in the 1099-B section and when I look at the Form 8949 that it generates, I haven't been able to figure out how to get Box F checked.  Thanks.

Follow the steps in the TurboTax help article below to enter the details of a sale not reported on Form 1099-B which will go to Form 8949 with box F checked:

Where do I enter the sale of a second home, an inherited home, or land on my 2024 taxes?

I am trying to report a debt investment loss and was told that Form 8949, Part II, Box F (long term transaction not reported to you on 1099-B) was where I should enter it.  I am trying to figure out how to get 1099-B to generate the Form 8949 with Box F checked.  I did not receive any 1099-B nor was it reported to IRS.  It is not for a sale of a second home, inherited home or land.  Thanks.

Even though you are not reporting the sale of a second home, inherited home, or land, the steps in that TurboTax article are what you should follow in order to achieve the outcome you seek.  The information entered through those steps will be reported on Form 8949 with Box F checked.
