How Should an Employer Substantiate Eligibility for Tax Credits for Qualified Leave Wages?
The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) was enacted on March 18, 2020, to help those affected by coronavirus by requiring certain businesses to provide workers who are unable to work or telework due to circumstances related to the coronavirus with paid leave benefits. The act offsets the costs of providing the affected individuals with paid leave benefits through refundable tax credits against employment tax.
Form 7202 is used to figure the amount of the credit an individual is able to claim for qualified sick and family leave due to coronavirus on the 2020 tax return.
Who is eligible?
In order to be an eligible self-employed person the following must apply:
Will Turbo Tax be able to attach this file as a pdf within the next few days so we can e file????
Turbotax wording is tricky here. The Irs doesn't except efile of 7202 form but they do accept pdf. Other tax preparation services like HRB & Taxsla**r have a function that allows pdf to be attached to the filing... so theirs are going through. Turbotax doesn't want to change their functionality to fit this scenario.
Now that form 7202 is available, If I file by mail with TurboTax, I would have to pay now and TurboTax will generate my return that will includes the form 7202 as well right?
Thank you in advance.
When will efile be available with Form 7202? Other software companies are allowing efile with this form. Do we all need to switch to your competitors?
Which online tax preparers are able to efile form 7202-t?
H&R block, Taxslayer & Intuit for professionals can all attach it as pdf to efile
I tried h&r block online and it too said it would have to be mailed 😡
Update.. 2/14/2021.. I had made a tiny mistake and that's why it had said I needed to mail it. I fixed the mistake and was able to e-file using H&R Block online with zero issues. There were no issues with form 7202 at all!
Not sure what version you were using but think it's only on the self employed one.
You can't email. you need to print and send by mail.
It was the self-employed one. Ugh, I don't know if I did something wrong or what 😫
I have spent hours completing my return only to run into this nonsense. I will be moving to another tax software system. Filing on paper with the IRS is simply not an option as it can take 4 or more months for them to process. This is very very poor customer service.
I totally agree! I have wasted hours and money just to find out that I can't efile because of that one form. They didn't inform me that I couldn't efile until after I paid for the services! I want my money back so I can file elsewhere! Mailing my return is not an option for me either!
Ok I think that I might have done this by mistake trying to do this self employed and need help trying to fix this.
Other online tax preparation software doesn't really let you e-file this form. The form cannot be e-filed. Period. The IRS system has no electronic version of this form.
Some software allows you to attach documents to the e-filed return as allowed by the IRS, but that's not the same thing and is prone to error.
It's not ridiculous that TurboTax doesn't allow you to e-file a form that can't be e-filed per the IRS... goodness.
