on the form 8915F that we're waiting for I would just report that I made a repayment of $5K ?
just tell me 1 more thing... you were an accountant or bookkeeper before you retired right? 🙂
If you go download the Form and look at it, I bet you would feel better about all of this. Then you will see all the inputs and what and how the IRS is tracking this CARES distribution. Just a thought.
LOL, no Physician Assistant, but I don't give them a dollar more than they are owed and it's always been a hobby how to leverage the tax system for my benefit.
NICE!!!! That's great! you know all this stuff....
Thank you! I appreciate all your help!
If I have any more questions can I come back to you?
Sure, why not. But if you download that form and look at it, all this theory will be locked in and you will be telling people how it works! Show one, do one, teach one.
Will this form 8915 F be ready before the filing date? Also totally confused. I paid the federal taxes for the distribution [removed] do I now have to pay federal taxes again on the second 13666.00. I only have the 1099 for the initial 2020 withdrawal, so I have no idea what to write when entering the information this year. Do I add the 1099 this year or just fill out form 8915?? If I have to enter the 2020/1099 do I enter the gross distribution 41000 or 13666 and what do I enter in taxable amount? Also what do I enter in Federal taxes the 4100 initially taken or does this amount also gets divided by 3 (1366)???? Please someone help me I cannot afford a tax consultant have to do them myself. Also I was over 60 when I made the disaster Covid withdrawal. Thanks for any help!!!
This is very frustrating. We had a rental house with tons of work we did with thousands of expenses and annual depreciation that we sold this year. I have no idea how to transfer that all to a new company so I’m trapped! TurboTax refuses to answer if it will be sooner. Originally said 3/17 and then move to 3/31 even though the form is ready
So are you lacking in personnel in the SW department? Did they not start their updates with a beta version based on the draft? Not implement agile methods of SW development? This is an utter FAIL by TT. Other sites are up and running and you claim 3/31. Its a friggin joke.
What other sites may I ask? If you are saying FreeTaxUSA, im not sure that site is appropriate for the complexity of many TurboTax users. Besides them, who else?
Ok, I have gone through almost this entire thread and this is my take
1) The TT March 31st date for incorporating form 8915F is reasonable if it is already incorporated and awaiting the IRS approval for efiling… Knowing that IRS is very busy with other stuff and this is not a priority for them.
2) If above is not true then it is time to change TT with some other tax software as you could see the absurdity of it.
3) Also it appears that HR&Block is charging $60 to file this form for you which is nothing but corporate greed for desperate people on desperate times.
Time to vote for politicians who advocate streamlining tax code?
Sadly we need to replace ever old goat or mule politician period, on both side. Neither side have done anything for us the taxpayer for years and years. And note, I said both sides.
The clowns at turbotax seem to need almost 2 months to put out a form AFTER Irs finalizes it. Now they are showing an estimated ate of 3/31 for the form that was finalized by the irs and published on 2/2/ Pure nonsense, NOTHING changed from the draft that the irs put out. any BASIC programmer would need a week or 2 MAX which is mostly to test what was there. I am done with the incompetency of turbotax. H&R Block already has it on their software.
Took out covid with, paid 2/3 of it back same year in 2020. if i dont pay any of it back for 2021 return as that portion was already repaid in 2020. can i file without the 8915-f since turbotax is in no rush to have the form ready until 3/31. Would the irs reject the form if i efiled it. Turbtoax will let me efile, but dont want to if the irs will reject it
