super helpful! Will will try this! Interesting thing is I already received my federal refund. I am using the downloaded windows system and it was giving me that error. I will try deleting the state and entering the info in like the article suggests!
There is a process to complete the state return after filing the federal and an article that will be helpful for you.
This procedure should allow you to file your state without issue. Sometimes it's necessary to delete your cache, cookies and browsing history to remove any unwanted data that your computer just won't forget.
with the tax filing deadline extended, is the repayment period extended also for the first year’s repayment?

The "first" year was 2020 and any 2020 repayment had to be done by Dec 31, 2020. The filing date is immaterial.
My understanding is the 1st yr repayment ha to be mad by April 15, 2021..
was that extended?
My bad - you right - the due date of the 2020 return which is now May 17. (or October 15 if you file a timely extension.)
Do u know if the May 17 date also applies to repayment?

The IRS instructions say the "Due date or extended due date". The due date is May 17 and extended due date Oct 15.
Can tax return be filed now and repayment be made later so long as it is by May 17th ?

Answered in you other post.
Yes, but then yiu would need to amend to claim the repayment. It is better to file after the repayment to avoid amending.
As of today 5/11/2021, I still don't see the form 8915E on the desktop version.
Where should I look for this form?
Also, I don't see the questions in the 1099R section to lead me to file the form 8915E to avoid the penalty.
My software charges me 20% penalty and not the 10%
The 8915E is on the desktop. The 20% is weird. After you entered the 1099-R, you have to answer the questions after it. Please edit your 1099-R and answer the questions.
