when amending federal and CA state return

So as soon as I e-filed federal I found many missed deductions.

IRS stated to wait until I get refund before amending.

I then need to know to file state now with missing deductions and then amend both federal and state at same time or wait to send state after I amend federal.

 I thought about waiting to file my state return until after the amendment of federal goes through but that will be a long wait plus not simple to accomplish with Turbo Tax. I would have to change the federal return(not click amend)then print state...then go back and undo changes and then click amend federal. pull out the 1040 and replace with federal 1040X and same for schedules attached when mailing state return.

I most likely plan to submit my state return with missing deductions then amend both returns later.

When I amend returns do I send federal amendment and then wait the few months for it to be processed before sending the state amendment? Or can I send them at the same time?

No, you do not need to wait for the Federal Amended return to be processed before you send in your amended return to the state.  Once you send in the Federal Return it will take 8-16 weeks for it to be processed.  States vary as to their processing times for amended returns.

Amended returns have to be printed and mailed according to the instructions that print out with the returns.  You can send both amended returns at the same time.
