That means the program wants you to enter explanatory details about a figure.   TurboTax has a lot of places that might require an explanation line.     What were you entering when the program said explanatory details were needed?

To get help here you'll need to describe exactly what you are doing and in what topic of the TurboTax program.   Then hopefully someone will be familiar with your issue.

Are you preparing a 1040X amended return?  If so, the IRS wants to know why you are Amending.  Some examples:

to correct a W-2 data entry mistake

to add a forgotten 1099-INT

to remove a dependent

etc.

I also would like to know where you can leave a note of explanation in the Program.  Specifically, am trying to claim a 1099R sent to my deceased husband (after his death) on my return as a single person now.  I can easily nominee the interest he received that was sent to me , but don't know if I can enter his 1099R for a puny amount that I am willing to claim so I don't have to do an estate tax for him for the company's failure to correct that 1099R. Am I making sense?  Is there a side bar that takes you to a note entering spot?  Thanks ....   Patty

If the 1099R is in your deceased husband's social, you don't want to include it on your return.

However, if the amount is small, you may not be required to file an estate return.   Not every estate is required to file Form 1041 for income earned. If the estate has no income-producing assets or the annual gross income is less than $600, no return is necessary. The only exception is if one of the beneficiaries is a nonresident alien.

Is this for an amended return or for some other reason? Please be specific.
