Yes, you should know when you were originally married and use that information to complete the return. The 2020 TurboTax is basically interested in whether or not you were married on the last day of the year 2020 for filing status purposes.
The same thing would apply when you are completing a 2019 return. The software is interested in your marital status on the last day of the year for filing status purposes in preparation of the 2019 return.
