Same thing happened to me. I was on the phone for 90 mins with turbo tax and they had no idea what the problem was.. They kept asking me if I have my own business.. . Which I dont... So, I am waiting for a Turbo tax team member to look at it and e-mail me back...
Having the same exact issue. Have spoken with FOUR representatives and “experts” on TT’s end and they are all reporting this as a system glitch and informing me that I should receive an email from them when this is resolved.
Spoke with CS. Stated it was a know issue as of hours ago. Was asked to wait patiently and check the forums and attempt to file daily.
I don't have stock and I'm getting this error when I try to efile my NJ tax return. Glad to see I'm not alone. Hope Turbo Tax fixes this quickly so we can all file.
Had this error when I tried to file on my PC BUT was able to efile without issues on my phone.
Great tip! confirmed a workaround here is to download the turbotax app on your phone, login, everything will still be done. This error doesn't pop up on the iOS app when filing! Thanks @Carsonlee2688 no waiting for turbotax to fit necessary!
I was in live chat for over an hour and no resolution to this issue. Please get this fixed ASAP Turbotax! We all deserve our well earned tax returns!!
confirmed, filing on my phone was a successful workaround.

Just hit the same error. Live in NJ as well.
Called intuit and they saw my issue via screen share but left me on hold for an hour after seeing the issue.

So I do work full time but work at TurboTax on the Full Service Team part time for tax season. Yesterday, I thought I had something wrong because of this and maybe input data where it should not have been. This is for passive income, ie Scorp, partnership, trusts & estates, that go on a K1 and your share passes to your personal income taxes. I was going crazy with this, spent a lot of time on it, than about 4pm est, I seen this thread started and it wasn't just me! Last night on my shift, some agents were not yet aware of this, some were and the phones I am told were going crazy not all on this, but many NJ callers! So I found out, It is a known issue. And they are actively working to resolve it. Not all agents were aware, so I am sorry some of you had a bad experience. Again I am just a part time worker for tax season (CPA) and there are thousands of us at various levels to support TurboTax customers (I am a Turbotax customer too!). I do see there is an update this morning for TurboTax Desktop that I am running now, I hope this is the fix. Turbotax does its best to address these issues as fast as it can. Fingers crossed
As of this morning, it looks like the bug has been fixed. I was just able to successfully e-file.
I was also receiving this error. It seems to be FIXED! My state went through this morning. Good luck everyone.
