I am using TT 2021 Home and Business, the download version. I deleted the first download and redownloaded it using Google Chrome. Same issue. I enter a number in a box and tab to go to the next box and it does nothing. I then click into the next box and I get the blue circle and at the top it says "not responding". So, I sit and wait for about 30 to 45 seconds and then I can enter another number. And on it goes.
Yes, that is the problem we are all having. It doesn't appear TT is willing to fix this issue. If your W2G do not have Federal Taxes withheld, then total them all up and submit as though you didn't receive a W2G. If they have Taxes withheld, the only way I know is to enter them. From my experience calling support is no help on this issue. You will waste a lot of time on the phone and no one will help you.
If there is withholding you an still add them all up and make one W-2G entry ... this is legal since all the IRS gets from you is the totals on the tax return.
Clearing the cache will not fix this issue. This issue is program related. I wish you or someone there would get a message to the programmers to fix this. It should be easily duplicated on their end. I've tried the calling support route and it was terrible.
I am trying to enter W 2's. they cannot be grouped together. Even if they could, there is an issue with the program. I spent two plus hours trying to find a way to talk to a real person. No such luck. Today I will try to re-download the program on a different computer. If that doesn't work, I guess I will switch to H & R Block. I have better things to do with my time than sit and wait for one or two minutes after every entry.
I hear you and agree. When a program you paid for and it clearly has a bug and support is not interested in solving, that was enough for me. I can save you some time. Don't bother redownloading and installing on another computer. It will not fix this issue. I was able to add mine up and submit that way, but I won't be using TT next year due to their lack of support on this issue. I'm not saying any other vendor is better, but I'm going to give them try next year. There is a limit to how many W2G can be entered and still E-File. I believe it's 15. Anything over that and you have to paper file.
I have to say, thank you. Out of all the responses I've received on this issue, your responses was the most helpful. The TT people responding was no help at all, which is sad.
Thanks again, I appreciate your help.
I did download it on my son's computer and it is working as it should. Does this mean I need a new computer? I don't know and really don't want to buy one just now. All my other tax years with TT work fine. Just not this one. I do wish someone would realize there is an issue and let us know how to fix it.
We have tested the input for Form W2-G but need a larger number of entries in order to reproduce the experience you have seen. It would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2021" file to test further.
If you would be willing to send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information, here are the instructions:
Go to Online in the TurboTax Desktop header.
This diagnostic copy (numbers only; no personal info) of your tax file will allow us to test a large number of entries for Form W2-G. If we are able to determine the cause, we'll reply here and provide you with a resolution.
@miller1099 - Thanks!

What operating system are you using?
Before you consolidated, how many Forms W2-G did you need to enter?
Using Windows 10 Pro with all the latest updates. I had 61 W2G. I've entered a little over 75 two years ago.
This is a known issue this year with no real fix ... the work around is to simply add up all the winnings and make just ONE W-2G entry for the totals if you have withholding to report OR skip the W-2G entry and enter the gambling winnings as a total on the next screen. The IRS doesn't get sent any of those copious W-2G entries you make in the TT program just the total on Sch 1 is submitted ... it is a total waste of time if you can simply add them all up yourself.
You may be right, but I called the IRS and the lady I spoke with claimed they did. They do what she described as a data match. So if they have 3 W2G from a casino they are looking for 3 W2G from your tax return. If they don't see them they dig deeper to find out why. She did tell me that I could add them all up and when they looked at them if the numbers matched then they proceed. They see it more when a person has more than the 15 total you are allowed to have for e-File. I was quite surprised at how well she explained it. I guess I got lucky got one of those great IRS employees.
