Turbotax (desktop, deluxe) is forcing me to enter data into form IL-2210, when it shouldn't be. Last year's tax liability was $2500. This year, I paid my estimated taxes of $825 each quarter, on time ($3300 total). That's 130% of last year's liability, and I am getting a refund (total tax due is $3306).
Every time I delete the form, it recreates it during the review process. Why is it doing this? I finally just filled it out (why it couldn't pull the info from last year is beyond me) to get past it, but it seems to me that this shouldn't be happening in the first place. I've been using TT forever and I have never had this happen before.

Go through the Illinois state interview again, and look for the screen where TurboTax shows you the tentative underpayment penalty and asks if you want to let the state Department of Revenue calculate the penalty, if any. If you respond "no", TurboTax will provide a series of questions, the answers to which could result in reducing or eliminating the penalty.
See this Illinois webpage for more information about the state's underpayment penalty.
What I don't understand is why it is asking about a penalty at all since I was penalty proof.
If you follow the steps previously provided, it should result in removing the penalty tentatively calculated by TurboTax if no penalty is warranted. It is hard to say why it was calculated without seeing your entries. Let us know if you still need assistance.
