Just say you will mail a check. Then you can go online and pay the IRS directly at

I totally understand that to be an option, even though not having used that option for the 1040 Tax payment due, I'm not sure if you can use a future date (prior to 04/18/2023) for the payment date as stated on the IRS website: "https://www.irs.gov/payments/pay-by-debit-or-credit-card-when-you-e-file" to be the option when paying using a credit card to pay your taxes due.
I have used the option you mention for 1040-ES payments, and there is no option for a future payment date that I recall, it's a pay-immediately-only option.
You can choose your payment date and method in Step 2 of the File section. If you are not seeing this option, please reach out to us directly using the Help Article here. This ensures you will get to the correct department as quickly as possible.
Too late now, last night I called TurboTax, and an "Expert" answered that did not know the answer to why there was not an option to enter the payment date using a credit card. She in turn called a "Manager" who told her there was no payment date selection on the credit card payment option. Since this was the answer I received and I have worked with TurboTax "experts" before who do not go above and beyond what's in front of their noses, I decided to file using the "debit my checking account" option which does provide a payment date option.
Of course, now that my taxes are filed I can't verify that your directions are correct since I can't simulate filing my taxes again.
