I purchased the TurboTax Home and Business 2023 Desktop version because I have both a W-2 and a 1099-NEC to report this year. In the past, using the desktop version for E-filing with just a W-2 was smooth, but now, with the addition of a 1099-NEC, I received a message saying, "This return has forms that can't be E-filed due to tax regulations." I'm instructed to print and file by mail.
Could you please provide more information on why the 1099-NEC is causing an issue with E-filing, and if there's any resolution or workaround for this situation?
Thank you!

If using desktop software, this has been resolved.
If this issue has been resolved, why can't I file my return? Why don't you inform the user where the problem is? I have e-filed the same forms for several years, and now I can't? What gives?
Please clarify the error message you received and the version of TurboTax you are using.
I am using Turbotax Deluxe.
I have two problems:
1. I entered a W-2 from a deferred compensation plan. After I enter the values in the worksheet, it asks if I took money out of a non-qualified pension plan and I respond Yes. Then, it does not allow me to Continue and I cannot go Back either. I click on another tab to get out of it. When I check whether the amounts registered, they are in the list of income and on Schedule 1. When I run the error check, it tells me there is an error on this worksheet - that the 457 State distributions doesn't match the 457 distributions on the Federal return, and to adjust the state entries. But they do match. I have checked the entries a dozen times, re-entering them several times. Since the numbers appear to be correct on the Forms, I attempted to submit my return, and then...
2. I received an error that I cannot submit my return because certain forms cannot be e-filed and tells me to click on the Review tab. When I do that, it sends me to the non-qualified pension form above. I have e-filed the same forms for years and never had a problem. Very frustrating.
Just to clarify, I am using TurboTax Deluxe on a MacBook Air.
I am having trouble re-creating this message. Can you go into Forms Mode and tell me what forms have the errors (red exclamation marks), state and federal? And what state returns are included in your return? @Mcarroll12
It now works. I rebooted Turbotax and it updated, and I downloaded the data from the financial institution rather than enter it by hand. Not sure which thing worked but the data was entered without a problem and I was able to file the return. Thanks for your help.
